Most screenwriters will use dedicated screenwriting software instead of a simple word processor like Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Perhaps the main reason screenwriting software is superior is because it will format your script automatically into the industry standard. Movie script programs like StudioBinder go beyond that to include outlining and collaboration tools that assist you at every step of the writing process.
You can find many screenplays for free online, including StudioBinder's own script library which hosts hundreds of film and TV scripts. Be careful with what you find elsewhere online however because sometimes you'll find a "transcript" of the movie instead of the official screenplay.
Concept, character, and conflict — these are the 3 C's of screenwriting and they are the foundation of every great screenplay. The more focus you put in these areas, the stronger and more compelling your script will be.
Writing your own script is not too difficult. If you have a concept, start brainstorming and fleshing out the plot and characters. When that's done, shape all that material into an outline that summarizes the entire plot. Then it's just a matter of writing each scene, one by one, and soon enough you'll have a screenplay.
There are screenplay templates for Microsoft Word that you can find online. But, really, they are more like guides that show you what a properly-formatted screenplay looks like in Word. When writing, you'll be responsible for formatting everything yourself.
For people without an agent or industry connections, it can be very difficult to get a script sold. To better your chances, do some or all of the following:

- Submit your film to The Blacklist
- Send query letters to production companies that allow them
How to write a movie script online in StudioBinder
